Another busy year working with great clients, on a diverse set of commissions. Worked all over the UK, plus shoots in Madrid and Berlin. Obviously I'm not going to list all my assignments, below are just my personal favourites and some links for more information. 2015 has already started with a flurry of planning meetings and calls, and a few commercial photoshoots booked in.
But of course, I'm always searching for interesting collaborations and new challenges, so if you have something in mind, give me a call and we can hook up over coffee and discuss.
Loads of business conference photography this year - highlight was a three day, multi-venue event for the Association of Graduate Recruiters - at the ACC Arena and then an evening gala event at the Anglican Cathedral.
More information from this commission is on the blog post - conference photography at BT Convention Centre ACC Arena Liverpool
Also loads of Liverpool pr and public relations photography over the year - above is a commission from The Racing Post, who were in town for the Grand National weekend. It is an area of my work I really enjoy - often working to a tight press deadline, you have to think on the spot and try to imagine what a picture editor will use. Below is my favourite from a shoot for Disney - they had a competition for children to design their own costumes - this was the quite shy winner with her Dad.
A lot of PR photo shoots involve celebrities and big brands - above is Natasha Hamilton for mobile network Three and LFC legend John Barnes for McDonalds. While others are just members of the public - below is a shoot for the charity Guide Dogs for the Blind. Completely different challenges as a photographer but both resulted in happy clients and a lot of media interest and coverage.
And as usual, loads of event photography all over the UK - below is an evening in Manchester for TotalJobs, covering a team and client building bowling session - very funny !
I attended quite a few Writing on the Wall events again - the launching of the George Garrett archive was a particular highlight. While I was at Glastonbury Festival again in June, covering the event for the 5th time as a press photographer, shooting for a number of agencies.
Business portraits made up a big part of my year - shooting for law firms, housing associations, British Gas, universities and quite a lot of actors and musicians !
Probably the strangest commission of 2014 was from the Highways Agency. It was for the publication of a report detailing massive Government spending plans on improving the UK road network. An urgent list was drawn up of congestion and accident spots and with just a week to complete, I called up a number of fellow photographers to assist me up and down the country. Furthest north was the A1 near the Scottish border, while colleagues travelled to Somerset and down to the Kent coast. Possibly not the most exciting photos. But the project involved a lot of planning and a daily shifting brief (the joys of working with a large Government department) so at the end of the day, the big budget made all the hard work totally worth it !
Finally, my most challenging commission - a fashion brand shoot with models - more details about this commercial photography project via the jump. But in summary, it was fine, I carefully planned it out beforehand and the client was super happy.
So thanks if you've got this far - 2014 was a blast, I was really busy. And it is shaping up to be a great 2015 already - Happy New Year !
